Rabbi Goldschmidt pointed out that this was the first CER conference to take place in Israel. Rabbi Goldschmidt said the CER aims to strengthen the ties between the Jewish Communities in Europe and Israel. Mayor Of Jerusalem Nir Barkat was a guest at the conference at the gala dinner. The delegation also met with Reuven Rivlin, the President of the State of Israel and they discussed the problems of antisemitism in Europe.
