The Conference of European Rabbis is the foremost Rabbinical alliance in Europe and unites religious leaders from across the continent. Religion in the public sphere is often thought of as being little more than an archaic and backward looking lifestyle. In fact nothing could be further from the truth and the CER wants to reward those who have used the tools of a new generation in the best possible way, in accordance with the Jewish principle of ‘Tikkun Olam’ – repairing the world. The CER Internet Entrepreneurs Competition has received thousands of applicants over the years. The prizes of €26,000 and two runner up prizes of €18,000 are awarded annually in a different European city.
A new generation of young entrepreneurs in the field of internet and digital start-ups is growing around the world, leading the way in countless successful applications which have enormous potential. However while those motivated solely by financial gain may reap their own rewards, those with a more altruistic motivation are less often recognised. We want to cultivate a generation of talented and selfless entrepreneurs.
Promoting ‘Tikkun Olam’ is about contributing to global social harmony, whether the application enhances areas of business, education, entertainment, travel, social or leisure.
